Qatar- Senegal Relations

The political relations between the two countries have developed since February 10, 1975 and a diplomatic exchange of ambassadors was held. Senegal opened an embassy in Doha in September 1998. It was also approved to open the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Senegal on 28 November 1999 and was appointed the first ambassador to the State of Qatar in the Republic of Senegal in 2001.

The two sides share the same values of belonging to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the United Nations. This consensus is reflected in the exchange of support for country and Senegal nominations for international posts, as well as support for country positions

And to talk about the political aspects that constitute the backbone of the relations between the two countries. It is worth mentioning that there is an understanding and convergence of views and consensus between the two countries in international forums because the two countries share the same values because they belong to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the United Nations. This consensus is reflected in the exchange of support for Qatari and Senegal nominations for international posts, as well as support for Qatari positions

 

Agreements and memorandums of understanding signed with Senegal and reciprocal projects.

There are many agreements signed between the two countries:

  • Agreement on trade exchange and economic and technical cooperation.
  • Agreement on mutual encouragement and protection of investments.
  • Agreement for the establishment of a Joint High Committee.
  • Agreement on the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of financial evasion in respect of taxes on income.
  • Protocol of mutual consultation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries.
  • Cooperation Agreement between Qatar News Agency and Senegalese News Agency.
  • Memorandum of Understanding between Qatar Chamber of Commerce and National Union of Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Senegal.
  • Agreement on establishing the businessmen council between Qatar Chamber of Commerce and the National Union of Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Senegal.
  • Memorandum of Understanding in the field of tourism between the Government of the State of Qatar and the Government of the Republic of Senegal.
  • Memorandum of Understanding between the Qatar National Olympic Committee and the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Senegal.
  • Agreement on cultural cooperation between the Government of the State of Qatar and the Government of the Republic of Senegal.
  • Memorandum of understanding between the Government of the State of Qatar and the Government of the Republic of Senegal in the field of education.
  • Convention on the employment of Senegalese labor in the State of Qatar.
  • Agreement on air transport between the two countries.
  • Memorandum of Understanding between Nebras Energy Company.
